The Garden City community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of James Huband, 44, who passed away on the night of March 24, 2026, following a motorcycle accident near Holcomb in Finney County. Despite the rapid response from first responders and transport to a local hospital, James was pronounced deceased, leaving family, friends, and neighbors in deep sorrow.

 

James was cherished for his warm heart, genuine nature, and zest for life. He loved the outdoors, motorcycles, and spending quality time with those closest to him. His adventurous spirit, infectious laughter, and ability to uplift those around him made him a beloved member of the community. The memories he created—filled with joy, kindness, and shared adventures—will remain a lasting legacy for everyone who knew him.

 

Authorities report that James was traveling south on South Holcomb Lane when he crossed the center line, entered the northbound ditch, and lost control of his motorcycle, which ultimately crashed in a field east of the roadway. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

 

James is survived by his family and friends, who will forever treasure his compassion, generosity, and the joy he brought into their lives. The Finney County community has rallied around his loved ones, offering condolences and support during this incredibly difficult time.
